Coughs & Sneezes Prevent Diseases
In Chapter 2 of WORLDS ENDS, I explained how Heterologous Immunity was having an obvious effect on limiting covid transmission.
Sometimes called “cross-immunity”, this is a well-established principle of virology. All coronaviruses are breeds of Dog. Your immune system has templates for recognising dogs. We don’t have a template for an extra-terrestrial pathogen. That’s why we have to be very careful what we bring back from the Moon, or Mars.
The common cold is a toy dog. Can give you a nasty nip. But rarely fatal.
The flu is a terrier, ranging from small to large. Its bite can be fatal for some people: the elderly, and children, with underlying health conditions.
The covid breed of coronavirus is an Alsatian. Perfectly friendly to most people. But potentially lethal to a small proportion of the elderly.
Our immune system has become used to coronavirus “dogs” for tens of thousands of years. That’s why these viruses need to mutate, to try different dog breed shapes so as to get past our immune system defences.
That constant battle, over millennia of human life, has left us with a vital immune system legacy: we recognise dogs. Quickly and efficiently. Simple metaphorical example: if you’d ever been bitten by a bulldog as a child, you would have developed an instinctive “avoid” response.
So I proposed in Worlds Ends that one of the (many) reasons we are not seeing hundreds of thousands of covid deceased being thrown into the Thames, is precisely because we necessarily have some degree of acquired Cross-Immunity.
This just-published paper confirms that virology proposal was correct. We now have clear scientific evidence that as many as 20% of people have coronviral cross-immunity: just from the common cold. Clearly, further research needs to be conducted as to what cross-immunity has been conferred by various types of coronaviral influenzas.
You are told that Covid herd immunity is reached at a 60% population infection level. The new cross-immunity research has just cut that by 20%.
Do the basic arithmetic. Post your result with a cheap pocket calculator to your nearest Parliamentary representative. If you think that scientific facts are in any way relevant to what Govt UK is doing.
